Children’s Programs

​

October 2nd – Read with Roger, the therapy dog. Schedule an appt. between 2:30 & 4:30.  Call 615-575-0508.

​

Lapsit – Friday mornings at 10:30am (for infants & toddlers ages 2 and under)

This program is for infants and toddlers ages 2 & under and their caregivers (older siblings are allowed to attend/participate when necessary).  The program lasts around 30 minutes.  It includes books/stories, lots of songs, nursery rhymes, and fingerplays. 

 

10/04/24 – No Lapsit Today!

10/11/24 – Sailing on the Ocean: Books, songs, rhymes, and stickers.

 

10/18/24 – YES and NO! : A yes book, a no book. Stories, songs, & rhymes . . . plus stickers!

 

10/25/24 – Halloween Books! : This is an excuse to wear your costume an extra time before you outgrow it. Songs, finger plays, nursery rhymes and stickers.

             Wednesday Mornings at 10:30am (for 3 to 5 yrs old unless marked ‘ALL AGES’)

10/02/24 – Endlessly Ever After: We decide what happens next. We will have our program in the community room and play Four Corners. 

 

10/09/24 – Books where you make it happen by, touching, shaking, blowing etc.: Music, moving, and a coloring page!       

​

10/16/24 – Don’t Let it Happen! : Books where you have to help keep something from happening.  Songs, movement, & a coloring page.                                                           

 

10/23/24 – Halloween is Coming; Monsterous Books and Stories: As always there will be songs & movement activities. Plus a “monster” craft.

​

10/30/24 – Halloween! : Wear your Halloween costume and have some Halloween fun today!

​

10/23/24 – Guest Reader Today! : In honor of Halloween, a “monstrous” book.  Followed by “monster” games/creation.

10/30/24 – Halloween! : Wear your Halloween costume and have some Halloween fun today!

FAMILY EVENTS (ALL AGES)

 

Hooks & Needles Club: October 5th, 19th, 19st, and 26th

All are welcome regardless of skill level.  Ages 10 & up. Bring a hook & yarn!

10/03/24 – Monsters in the Library!

While creating your own version of a monster with the items available, use your brain to come up with its appalling, awful, dreadful, eerie, frightful, ghastly, hideous, horrendous, scary, shocking, terrifying, beastly, detestable, fearful, loathsome, obnoxious, and revolting story!​

 

10/10/24 – Egg Drop Challenge

Get your payload safely to the surface! Design and build a lander that protects a raw egg that’s dropped from up high.

 

10/17/24 – Yuck or Yum Pong

If your pong ball lands in a cup will you be brave enough to drink the contents?  It may be yummy or you may think it is yucky.


10/24/24 – Gathering of the Ghouls

Halloween Party!!!  Yes, come in your Halloween Costume! We’ll have tricks and treats!


10/31/24 – Game Day!

Today’s games could be:  video; board; card; virtual; fantasy… choose which game and which friends you want to game with today!

 

Dungeons & Dragons: Friday, October 18th 3:30-5:00 Join us for our D&D group! Both teens and college ages are welcome!

 

ADULT PROGRAMS

 

Bingo: Every Tuesday at 1:00 PM

Join in on the fun of friendly competition as Ms. Vicki calls out the numbers, and the race is on to yell out "BINGO." Prizes awarded to winners.  

 

Veteran's Representative: Wednesday, October 2nd from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in a study room 

A rep from the Sumner County Veteran's Service Office will be available to help any veteran or veteran's spouse with questions or filling out forms.  No appointment necessary.  First come, first serve basis.

 

Genealogy Club: October 5th at 10am

We will meet in the community room to watch Youtube videos about Genealogy and AI (Artificial Intelligence) and we’ll have some handouts & discussion. 

 

Adult Crafts! : Tuesday, October 15th at 2:30 PM

Let’s make a cute craft!  All supplies provided. Sign up at the desk or by phone. Sign ups required.

 

Page Turners Book Club: Thursday, October 17th at 11:30 AM

This month’s selection is The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna.

HAVEN Dementia Support:  Thursday, October 17th @2:00
